Photographic Studies in Hypnosis     Mardi Gras in New Orleans

Weirdo: Hypnosis at work?     New Orleans - 1920's
Hypnosis. Subconscious Suggestion. Somnambulism. In this film Professor LF Beck of University of Oregon conducts a live experiment in hypnosis on an obviously pliant participant. Upon watching it, one viewer recently called the film sadistic, like some sort of proto-Ludovico Treatment slouching towards Clockwork Orange.           The Crescent City, at work and at play. Influences of colonial France and Spain. Iron grille work. The old townhouses surrounding open courts. New Orleans, the industrial city, where ports and depot junctions distribute throughout, and out from, the heart of America. Culture shipped to & from the world. And, of course, Mardi Gras, Jazz age style.

Presidents' Day
In this educational film from the 1950's, a laundry list of America's Presidents shows where the nation came from and where it was going at the brink of the Eisenhower era.
